Tennant was discovered in the early 1990s while studying sculpture in Winchester, by Steven Meisel who had chosen “Anglo-Saxon Attitude” for the famous cover of Vogue Italia of December 1993. The photographer was struck by the nose ring that Stella refused to remove on the set and had recruited her on the spot for an advertising campaign of Versace in Paris. The model had then become a regular presence on the catwalks of Versace, Valentino and Alexander McQueen and in the promotional campaigns of big names such as Calvin Klein, Jean Paul Gautier and Burberry. At the end of the decade er she became the muse of Karl Lagerfeld who had chosen her exclusively as the new face of Chanel due to the resemblance to the legendary Coco.
