From the oath to the show, Joe Biden’s day

Washington DC prepares for Biden inauguration amid tight security .On Wednesday 20 January 2021, the eyes of the whole world will be on the official inauguration of Joe Biden at the White House. Biden will swear on a family Bible, kept by his wife Jill, while Harris has chosen two bibles, one by Regina Shelton and one by Thurgood Marshall (civil rights icon). Biden will swear before John Roberts, president of the supreme court, Harris instead before Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic judge at the supreme court. The theme chosen by Biden for his inauguration is “America United” to symbolize the journey he wants to undertake to unite the country, after it was split by the Trump presidency. The latter’s slogan was “Make America Great Again”. On the eve of the inauguration of the 46th president of the United States, 200,000 American flags were lined up on the National Mall, to represent American citizens who will not be able to be present at the oath of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the anti Covid-19 restrictions do not allow. Lady Gaga will sing the American anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, and will be followed by Jennifer Lopez’s show. Other guests include Garth Brooks, star of Country music. Guests on the evening show, which will air on all networks except Fox, include Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, BruceSpringsteen, Foo Fighters and John Legend. In addition to Trump and Melania, for the first time since 1977 Jimmy Carter will not be present at the ceremony, for health safety reasons. Ex-presidents will be present, including the Clintons, the Obamas and the Bushes. After the ceremony Biden and Kamala, with their respective spouses and the three presidential couples, as per tradition, will pay tribute to the monumental cemetery of Arlington.
